Transformations in Geometry includes:

Rotation is turning an pre-image by a center of point, like the origin or a specific coordinate point.
Reflection is the mirror image of the preimage over a designated line or an axis.
Translation is the movement of the preimage as a whole; it "slides" the preimage. To translate an image, the coordinates have to follow the same rule, such as:
(x+5 , y-5) which will apply to all the coordinates of the pre-image. Symmetry is the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis. (ex. a butterfly) (All of the shapes in the picture on the left show a line of symmetry which divdes them in equal parts) |
Transformations in Plastic Surgery
ReflectionThe line of symmetry can show the defaults in the face that they can fix. In order for symmetry to occur, the surgeon must find the exact image of the face when reflected. Reflection helps the surgeon to find where to reshape and re-size the face.
SymmetryTo get the perfect facial symmetry, one will have to crop the image down the middle of one's nose and reflect the image across the line that the image was cropped in.
Some faces are already symmetrical - like Jennifer Lawrence.
But some faces are not - and they look better with facial symmetry.
And yet - there are faces that are more attractive when they are asymmetrical.
Although reflection and line of symmetry will take place in plastic surgeries only if it improves the appearance, they take a big role in plastic surgeries.

RotationIn plastic surgery, surgeons are required to find the measure of the angle for the rotation to occur for their transformation. In order to create the patient's desired appearance, the surgeon must figure out the angle measurement in order to find the rotation. Such as nose reshaping, the surgeon would need to find the angle for the rotation for the nose to occur. For plastic surgeries dealing with wrinkles or aging problems, surgeons must create the flap of skin into a triangle and find the angle in which the wrinkle will not be seen. After calculating the angle , they will rotate the angle amount into the face thus creating a wrinkle free skin.
TranslationIn plastic surgery, translations are needed in order to move the facial body parts or flaps of skin in order to create the desired look of the patient. Like what translation means, surgeons must let the body parts/flips "slide" on the face and the surgeon would then stitch it back up. An example would be a face lift, the surgeon would have to lift the skin/wrinkle or "slide" them in orer
